Events
It has been another incredibly busy half-term for sport at Green Lanes.
Hello everyone! We're excited to share a round-up of our sporting activities and achievements since January. It's been an incredibly busy and rewarding spring term for sports at Green Lanes Primary School!
Indoor Athletics Highlights
Indoor Athletics has been a major theme this term for Years 5 and 6. Mrs. Moxham from Stanborough delivered two Indoor Athletics lessons, where students explored various athletics activities.
Year 5 Indoor Athletics Competition
Our first event was the Year 5 Indoor Athletics at Stanborough. We selected 20 students from across the year group to participate in activities such as Vertical Jump, Chest Push, and Speed Bounce. Congratulations to our fantastic team for earning a bronze medal with their third-place finish!
Tennis Coaching Session
Eight enthusiastic Year 3 students had the wonderful opportunity to attend a tennis coaching session at Gosling Tennis Club. They improved their skills with coaches from the Gosling Tennis Academy, making the most of this incredible experience.

Rapid Fire Cricket Competition
Our Year 4 students also made us proud at the Rapid Fire Cricket competition held at Ridgeway. With participation from 14 schools across Welwyn and Hatfield, our team demonstrated impressive skill and dedication, achieving a commendable 4th place. Well done to all!

Netball Team Success
The netball team has been active this term, participating in two fixtures evenings at Stanborough. We have been thrilled with their progress and teamwork. The last fixtures evening was particularly successful, with one team winning all three of their games and the other team winning two out of three. Their confidence and collaboration continue to grow!

Indoor Athletics
On February 28th, 27 students from Years 5 and 6 participated in the Stanborough Sports Family Indoor Athletics competition. Green Lanes achieved a remarkable 2nd place finish, qualifying for the Welwyn and Hatfield District Finals.
At the District Finals, the competition was fierce. We are incredibly proud of both our boys' and girls' teams for their determination and outstanding performance. Special congratulations to the girls' team for winning the competition! They will represent Welwyn and Hatfield at the County Finals on March 18th.
We are so proud of all our students for their hard work and dedication this term. Thank you to all the parents and staff for your continuous support!
